Alpine-Senic-Loop-American-Fork-Canyon | American Fork Canyon and the Alpine Loop senic byway is a popular canyon in northeast Utah Country, southeast of Salt Lake City. There are numerous opportunities for hiking, skiing, fishing, and camping.
The jewel of the canyon is Timpanogos Cave National Monument. The cave is only open during the summertime, and on weekends you'll have to call ahead for a reservation or risk waiting a few hours before you can take the cave tour.
There are 2 main ways to get to the canyon. From the north take I-15 to the Alpine/Highland exit and head east towards the mountains. This road will take you right up the canyon.
From the south head up Provo Canyon about 6 miles then turn left onto UT-92 the Alpine Senic loop.
The road is 20 miles long and narrow. Its not recommended to take vehicles longer than 30 feet. It is usually open from late May to late October.
Visitors to the Canyon must purchase a $6 recreation pass, that is good for 3 days. Annual and weeklong passes are also available. Your pass is also good on the Mirror Lake highway.
