Brighton - Twin Lakes via the access road
One of the ways to get to Brighton's Twin Lake Reservoir is to hike up the access road that starts at the base of the Milly Express Lift. The road heads to the right of the base of the lift and then starts a couple switchbacks to get up the steep hill. After a couple of tuns the road heads into a ravine with the twin lake creek flowing down and under the road. Hiking out of the ravine the road curves around to the right and up a last hill before you'll see the dam.
This trail has alot of exposure to the sun, because it follows the ski runs up the mountain to get to the base of the dam. Be prepared with plenty of water and sunscreen on a hot summer day.
This hike can be combined with a number of other trails to make a loop. From the north side of the dam you can catch the trail down to Silver Lake or you can catch the trail going over the pass to Lake Solitude. On the south side of the dam the connecting trail to Lake Mary heads to the south east.
