The Delicate Arch trail looks easy on paper, but is one of the more strenuous hikes in Arches National Park.  Take at least 1 quart of water per person.  There is very little cover and most of the trail is over the slickrock.  During the summer, temperatures are 100+ degrees.

To get there, drive into Arches, and follow the main road about 12 miles into the park.  Follow the signs to the Delicate Arch Trailhead.  If you want want to hike to the arch, stop at the Wolfe Ranch trailhead.  At the end of the road there is short trail to the Delicate Arch Viewpoint, which isn't near as interesting or fun.

The first half mile of the hike is over a well defined trail through sage brush.  Then you'll come to the slickrock.  Follow the cairns.  The last 200 yards wind through some cliffs before you turn a corner and see the arch.

The best times to hike to the arch are sunrise and sunset.  The red colors of the sky make the arch a deep red color.
